Our Story: From Passion to Purpose
SoilCare.co.uk was born from a passion rooted in family, curiosity, and real-world gardening experience.
Our founder, Sohail M., holds a postgraduate degree from Liverpool John Moores University. While his day jobs introduced him to diverse work, his heart has always been in gardening. Sohail’s interest in soil and plants began early, inspired by his father, who taught him the values of trees, flowers, and growing things, as well as an appreciation for diverse types of plants.
In his late teens, Sohail met Professor Dennis W. Eaton, an American agricultural scholar from Pennsylvania, who came to Bangladesh for his PhD research on agricultural systems at Penn State University. Their discussions on land, soil, and gardening — influenced by Dennis’s own family background in agriculture — deeply shaped Sohail’s understanding and approach to soil and plant care.
Since 2013, Sohail has cultivated his own garden in the backyard of his London home. Over time, this hobby grew into a lifelong commitment to learning, experimenting, and sharing knowledge about soil, composting, fertilisation, pruning, and seasonal care.
He also manages mango and lemon plantations overseas in South East Asia, directing care plans remotely and overseeing results through careful observation and experimentation. Both successes and failures have taught lessons that are now shared with readers.
Helping friends and family set up their gardens and plantations successfully has always been a soul-fulfilling endeavour, bringing joy through their growth and achievements.
